Elevator Pitch

Genre 1

For my first genre I chose to create a poster. Though many times poster can be seen as uncreative and traditional, I feel it is a great way to physically reach a great amount of people. I displayed it at FSU's College of Medicine, this allowed me to directly intercept those who are actively pursuing careers in the medical field and would most likely be open to pursuing one in the military. To connect it to my other genres, I included the link to my second genre.

Genre 2

For my second genre, I chose to make a website that included information on the need for military physicians. Along with enlightening people on this problem, it provides ways to show support for the campaign. A website will allow me to reach those who I will not come in contact with, extending my message to a much larger audience.

Genre 3

My third genre was designed to allow a more personal interaction. I created a t-shirt that exemplifies the necessity of the medical personnel in the military. My intent was to make a firsthand experience with those I interact with and spread my message face to face. When wearing the shirt, I hope that others may stop and ask me about it and what it means, giving me the opportunity to further spread my message.

There are currently 1,348,719 Armed Forces personnel actively serving. Only about 12,000 of those actively serving are employed as physicians. Many students in both undergraduate and graduate school who are interested in pursuing careers in medicine, rarely consider the military as an option for their future career. My goal is to raise awareness about the need for physicians in the military and the benefits that a career in military medicine can offer. To do this I will create posters to distribute at FSU’s own College of Medicine, directly intercepting those who are already pursuing careers in medicine. I will also create a website that offers information available to most people about this problem and what they can do to support the campaign. A website will expand my message to a larger group of people than I may personally come in contact with. I will also create a t-shirt that will demonstrate the necessity of those who are serving as military physicians. This will allow firsthand influence with those I interact with.
