ABOUT ME

My Mission

I am dedicated to raising awareness about the desperate need for medical personnel in the military. Without these men and women, the brave soldiers fighting to protect our freedoms would be more vulnerable to lasting injuries and death. Those who are involved with medicine in the military are a vital part in the defense of our great nation.

My name is Darian Heers and I am a Freshman at Florida State University, majoring in Pre-Clinical Professions. I plan on enlisting in the military after achieving my Bachelor's Degree and serving as a trauma surgeon. I am very passionate about serving my country and supporting those who do.

MORE INFORMATION

There are many official websites that provide extensive information on the lives of those who serve as medical professionals in the military. The journal, Military Medicine, found here: http://militarymedicine.amsus.org/journal/milmed , is a very informative site when researching about the role of medicine in the military.

Their website states that "The objective of the Journal is to promote awareness of Federal medicine by providing a forum for responsible discussion of common ideas and problems relevant to Federal healthcare. Its mission is: To increase healthcare education by providing scientific and other information to its readers; to facilitate communication; and to offer a prestige publication for members’ writings."

There are currently 1,348,719 Armed Forces personnel actively serving. Only about 12,000 of those actively serving are employed as physicians
